Home // Our Story
Based in the picturesque valley of Speyside, where a family owned company make their soaps and skincare in an age old tradition ― from the Honey and Oatmeal soap found to be ideal for the most sensitive skin, to the prized Highland Midge lotion, warding off that annoying wee beastie, all 100% natural.
Established in 2008, as you come to browse the website, you'll discover what it is that inspires us to make something beautiful for your skin.
For much time, Mary used carrier and essential oils, not so easily recalling when she first began to use them but remembers fondly how she felt after their use. Better feeling skin, softer and soother long after the pleasurable scent of Lavender (her favourite) had long past, led her on a journey to become a soap maker.
Soaps were not enough though, to satisfy friends and family, of course not! Deciding she must make body butters, balms and creams too, the family banded together to form a company.
An established business now, the strength lies as much in the "mother and daughter" duo, each with their own unique value for what a modern small business should be in today's world but agreeing on the fundamental care and attention needed for all that is natural, from the products to the countryside they treasure so much.
A family in love with the countryside and wildlife, the peace and tranquility of nature. It is vitally important therefore our product range to be produced in a sustainable way, minimal impact on our surroundings and minimal waste. To understand and appreciate our Earth has limited resources, to be shared with all equally and fairly, this can be ensured with a promise to recycle and reuse.
One thing to realise that beauty comes from within, this is true of our product range too, we prefer to reduce the amount of packaging used ― there is very little to be thrown away, quite how it should be.
Mary firmly believe's by careful thought a lot can be done to reduce the demand placed on the environment overall, from a business point of view. Many may feel that the planet belongs to them. That is wrong. Mary would argue it is we ― as a society ― that belongs to it, and future generations are ever hopeful we can leave them something worthwhile to hold onto.
Traditional ways to make a skincare produce delicous for your skin, only an age old method of soap making will bring out the best for your health and beauty, it has to be said. Something to be appreciated long after use, this is why Mary loves what she does so much.
