Nature has an answer to everything if only we took enough care to question rather than guess the true value of our beauty and wonder.. just to ask

Quality doesn't come cheap but it should not be a great expense either.

At Mary Jean® we define quality in two ways:

  • choice ingredients, not only the cheapest but the more expensive as well

  • use a higher percentage of those oils best for treating a concern, despite costs

On our part, no expense is spared when designing a formulation.

Reviewing many a commercial formulation from the larger laboratories, one in particular caught our eye. This formulation was for a cream: having 81% water, 4% Glycerin and 1% Sunflower. The remaining 14% was their preservatives, fragrance and various fillers and texture enhancers1 and emulsifier system.

Madness. This cream has very little reward for the health of the skin. On the otherhand our Sensitive and Dry skin moisturising cream has the following:

  • 41% filtered water with 15% Chamomile hydrosol

  • 7.5% Sweet Almond

  • 5% Aloa Vera

  • 5% Camellia

  • 3% Glycerin

Mary and Elizabeth didn't trouble themselves either, with 2% natural derived Tocopherol and D Panthenol. This is quality you can expect from Mary Jean. A real difference for you and your family.

1 Inferior ingredients and additives such as texture enhancers, thickeners and coatings, Dimethicone, Isostearyl Isostearate (synthetic emollients), Red 7, Yellow 5 (synthetic pigments, dye), Butylene Copolymer, Propylene Copolymer (synthetic thickeners), Propylene Carbonate (synthetic sensory enhancement) and Trimethylsiloxysilicate (synthetic film coating).

Targeting Problems with Unique Solutions

Designing unique and bespoke formulations is time consuming, costly and frustrating. It isn't easy, it takes knowledge of natural ingredients and research of the problem and causes.

Many, many companies avoid the hassle by using a ready made commercial cosmetic base. An "off the shelf" solution that is generic, good enough for a lot of things but poor at one thing.

It is done differently at Mary Jean,® done better.

Each of the products in our entire range are unique in their design and formulation, targeted towards a given skin complaint, issue or concern. No two products are the same.

Trialed for many months on the trot, a new product has a lengthy development time. Feedback comes back from family and friends, revisions are made and trials begin once more.

Mary Jean® loses money every time a new product goes back out for trial. Time is lost and it doesn't matter. Having the correct formulation matters, the end product matters it makes a real difference.

It is the knowledge Mary has in her head. Experience of over two decades using aromatherapy oils that is the mark of quality from Mary Jean.®

This is patience and it shows in the quality of research and product benefits.
